HAWLEY - The Rotary Club of Hawley designated Horizon Dental Care the Business of the Year for 2015.  Horizon Dental Care was recognized for its exemplary community service, especially in its provision of free dental care in the “Dentistry from the Heart” program.  Over the ten years that this program has been in existence locally, it has provided a total of $775,000 worth of dental services to 1,650 people, at absolutely no cost to those served. The program, started by founder Dr. John Evanish III, is provided at both local Horizon Dental Care locations in Hawley and Cherry Ridge. The primary beneficiaries are low-income working families who do not otherwise qualify for publicly funded services.   The most recent event was on April 25th, 2015. Twelve dentists and nearly 100 technical staff volunteered their time and effort on this worthy program.  Other local organizations provide refreshments and other support for the event.

The Hawley Rotary Club is the local presence of Rotary International, the largest international community service organization in the world.  One of the areas of focus of Rotary International Foundation is Women’s and Children’s Health.  Dental care, as provided by the Dentistry from the Heart Program, is a basic health need that relates directly to a person’s ability to partake of proper nutrition, avoid infections and other oral diseases, and live without oral pain.

The Hawley Rotary Club salutes Dr. Evanish, his staff, other community volunteers and Horizon Dental Care for their consistent and long-term provision of these essential services.

The Hawley Rotary Club is a community service organization comprised of nineteen local citizens, and one of 42  clubs in Rotary District 7410.  The Club engages in numerous local service projects including support for food pantries, provision of warm clothing for school-age children, and scholarships for WAHS students. The Club’s international projects include support for Polio Plus (the successful Rotary project to eliminate polio from the world)  as well as international disaster relief and development projects.     For more information on the Hawley Rotary Club or opportunities to participate in local or international Rotary service projects, contact the Hawley Rotary at PO Box 404, Hawley PA 18428.
